Katherine Southall, MD, MPH graduated from the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, completing both a bachelor’s degree in Biology and a medical degree in the 6-year program. She is a Missouri native. Upon graduation from
medical school, she moved to New York City for internship and residency program in Internal Medicine/Ambulatory Care at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine affiliated-services Elmhurst Hospital in Queens, New York.
After residency she worked as faculty member of the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and subsequently at New York University School of Medicine/Bellevue Hospital, teaching medical students and Internal Medicine residents. At both academic centers, she maintained her own practice panel of patients.
Leaving the city for a more suburban community, she accepted an opportunity to practice Occupational Medicine, another discipline of primary care medicine. Dr. Southall was affiliated with Meridian Health of New Jersey, working in Neptune and Red Bank, New Jersey.
Family relocations took her next to Maine, where she continued in Occupational Medicine at Maine Medical Center, and then back to Kansas City, where she worked for Olathe Medical Center. While in Kansas City, Dr. Southall began work on a Master of Public Health degree at the University of Kansas-School of Medicine.
Returning once again to New Jersey, she attended University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey School of Public Health. While completing the master’s degree she worked as the Medical Director for Occupational Medicine at Saint Barnabas Medical Center and later at the University Medical Center of Princeton.
Another opportunity led her to the Lehigh Valley Health Network, to continue in Occupational Medicine, in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania.
Over the years, Dr. Southall also has enjoyed volunteering as a Primary Care doctor at various community clinics as well as participating in medical missions to the Dominican Republic.
Now firmly settled in New Jersey once again, Dr. Southall joined Allied Medical Associates in 2019. She is delighted to return to the exclusive practice of Internal Medicine.
Dr. Southall is also a certified medical examiner and is licensed to perform CDL/DOT physical examinations in the convenience of our private office.
Outside of work, Dr. Southall enjoys travelling, dancing, gardening, exercising, and reading.
